South end Project – Roof top solar structure.

The panels of a solar plant are installed over the roofs of the house, commercial and industrial buildings, or over the structure on land and water bodies. Therefore, the structure and panels have to withstand all the weather conditions throughout the seasons like summer, winter and monsoons. Also, the structure is expected to withstand extreme and one-off harsh weather conditions like cyclones. There are many standards which provide guidelines to design wind load tolerance of the structure. For example, as per IS 875 Part 3, a solar structure should be able to withstand a wind speed up to 150 kmph(kilometre per hour) if not more up to 210 kmph for cyclone-prone areas.

Indian solar market is expanding fast and the ecosystem is flooded with many installers. Design and installation of Module Mounting Structure(MMS) play a vital role in ensuring safety and generations. The MMS also provides a tilt angle to ensure optimal generation and enhance the commercial viability of the project. The tilt angle is decided based on the latitude of the exact location, structural stability of the roof or foundation over the land.
